Commercial Electrician Pegasus

Much of Christchurch's commercial space was built or refitted after the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes, and tenancies keep changing hands. For a fit-out we work from your plans or your designer's drawings, coordinate with the builder and other trades, and install power, lighting, data and board changes in the right order. Every circuit is labelled and tested, and fixed wiring is certified.

Pegasus Commercial Electrician: A Master-Planned Town on the MainPower Network

Pegasus is a master-planned town beside Woodend, about 25 kilometres north of Christchurch, designed for around 1,700 house sites and up to 6,000 people. Earthworks began in 2006, and the town's commercial and community buildings have followed its growth: the Pegasus Community Centre, Pegasus Golf and Sports Club, Pegasus Bay School and local shops and services. Nearly all of it is recent, so commercial work here is mostly fit-outs, extensions and maintenance of modern installations. With the town still filling up, new premises are added in stages.

Like the rest of the district, Pegasus draws its supply from MainPower, which processes any new connection or capacity increase. Buildings with specified systems such as emergency lighting have their compliance schedules held by Waimakariri District Council. We handle the requests and provide the Certificate of Compliance needed for any new connection, so an opening date is not held up by paperwork.

Lake Pegasus hosts regional and national events including triathlons, dragon boat regattas and sailing, and events like these can need temporary power, lighting and safe outdoor supply points. As general practice, temporary installations near water need RCD protection, sealed connections and cable routes kept clear of foot traffic. Clubrooms and the community centre see sharp peaks on event days and little use in between, so we check circuits can handle those peaks. Frosts are common across Canterbury in the cooler months, so heating circuits are worth planning in.

Local tip: Event organisers at Lake Pegasus should plan temporary power early, including RCD protection and cable routes clear of spectators.
